We are a collective of architects, designers, and artisans dedicated to the pursuit of spatial perfection.
Architecture is not merely about shelter; it is about framing life. Our philosophy creates spaces that resonate with the human spirit, balancing the raw and the refined.
We draw inspiration from the wabi-sabi aesthetic—finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence—and merge it with the precision of modern engineering.
Established in 1999 by Alexandra Moore, Modwood began as a bespoke joinery workshop in Copenhagen. Over the last two decades, we have evolved into a global architectural interior practice, yet our roots in craftsmanship remain the bedrock of our identity.
We do not believe in trends. We believe in context, materiality, and the human experience. Every project is an opportunity to create something that outlasts us.
Founded in Copenhagen as a joinery atelier.
Expanded to New York; First international architectural award.
Launched 'Modwood Collections', our furniture line.

We are a team of curious minds. We foster an environment where experimentation is encouraged and failure is seen as a necessary step towards innovation.
